S is for "Swing 'n a Miss"

After reading an article in this week's Crain's Chicago Business magazine I realize I may have spoken too soon about the wonders of Allstate Insurance. It turns out that insurance is more complicated that a catchy ad, and amazing coverage...who would have thought? Allstate has a catchy and will received "Mayhem" campaign, but not the goods to back it up.

M is for Mayhem

Its from Chicago!  Leo Burnett is the agency that came up with this brilliant campaign, and based here in Chicago, and so is Allstate.  Makes me proud to be living here now.  This campaign not only entertains consumers, it also encourages great brand remembrance.  Now when consumers no longer watch commercials on the television agencies have to become more creative so that their ads can form a presence in social media.  Leo Burnett accomplishes this beautifully.  Luckily a company can use social media as an expensive form of marketing research.  There is so much going on in this city, and so much I still have to explore.

C is for Cupcake Addiction

I have recently formed an addiction to cupcakes! I have to have at least one a day now (this is why I run).  In Chicago there are several gourmet cupcake shops that offer flavors like Cosmo, Cookie Dough, Peach Cobbler, and Dulce de Leche.  Its hard to resist.  Now I worry that I will go into serious withdrawals when I get back to Salt Lake City because there aren't any cupcake stores there that are as good as the ones here, in Chicago.  Maybe I'll just have to break down and learn how to bake?

P is for P-I-M-P

On my way to and from work I notice most of the differences between Chicago and Salt Lake City.  In Chicago the crosswalks are pointless.  Also, here you better know the fastest way to get from point A to point B, even if that means you get in the right turn lane only to speed up going straight through the light when it changes while cutting the other cars off.  I have also been able to take a glimpse into a culture different than my own.  I drive through not so nice areas with torn apart roads and buildings.  I feel a little like a Packer fan at a Bears game because I obviously don't belong there...the Utah plates give it away.  One day on my way home a really took a look out of my car window, and I definitely saw a pimp because he sure did have the swag.  (On a side note I met my first nun, and love her!)
